The Most Important Social Media Channels for Brands 2018-10-10T11:16:19+00:00

A company’s social media is only as powerful as its followers. The main reason for a business to implement their social media channels is that their customers are already registered. Therefore, companies should research where most of their target audience is most registered on social media, before establishing social media pages that aren’t relevant. Although there are variations between sectors, the best social media sites for most businesses are Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram (for more visually-appealing companies).

Facebook

This social media giant has its own business practices and it functions completely different from opening a personal account. Here’s more information on Facebook Business. Any business, big or small, should have a Facebook page to engage with customers, promote upcoming local events, and announce new services and products.

Twitter

Ideally, businesses on Twitter should post at least four to five times a day to leverage their presence and quickly reply to any comments or direct questions.  Tweets that have photos, links or videos attached to them receive more engagement than just written content. Companies who use Twitter Moments improve engagement by telling a story to their followers and can include customer tweets as part of the Moment.

LinkedIn

On a more professional note, LinkedIn targets business professionals, employees, and entrepreneurs of B2B and B2C companies to connect with current and potential clients. Unlike Facebook and Twitter, LinkedIn’s content relies heavily from industry news, professional blogs and company updates. Local businesses should have a LinkedIn account to connect with existing clients and even network with their competition or affiliate to share news from related industry events in the local community.

Instagram

This photo-managing social media giant contains built-in filters and editing tools like cropping to make it simple for everyone to share images that look like they were taken professionally. Instagram enables short video uploads and Instagram Stories making it great for visually-enticing companies to host photo-driven contests or posting another Instagram users content.

Other social media channels to use for marketing local businesses include Pinterest, YouTube, Snapchat, Reddit, and Tumblr.
